Once again the search begins at the University of Colorado. On Wednesday, Wake Forest officially introduced their new head coach, Jeff Bzdelik, former CU head men’s basketball coach.
Now that Bzdelik has moved on to what he described as his “dream job”, CU athletic director Mike Bohn is now left with the job of conducting another search to replace a head coach in the athletics department. Just Monday, CU introduced Linda Lappe as the new women’s head basketball coach, 14 days after Kathy McConnell-Miller was fired after five seasons.

The Connecticut Huskies women’s basketball team casually strolled into the record books on Monday night, barley flinching as they made history.
The Huskies sealed their 71st victory in a row defeating Notre Dame 59-44 all while passing their own record set by the UConn women’s huskies of old. The top-ranked Huskies are on a path of perfection making sure it is known that while records are nice, championships are better. And that is the goal.

In the world of sports, the effort to enhance the number of minority college coaches has increased in recent years through various initiatives put on by the Black Coaches Association (BCA) and through what is called the “Rooney Rule”, which affords minority coaches in the NFL the opportunity to be interviewed by teams during the hiring process.

Michael Jordan’s son, Jeff Jordan, could be making a comeback to college basketball this season.
Jordan met with Illinois coaches about possibly re-joining the team four months after he decided to call it quits on playing basketball for the school in order to focus more on his school work.
Jeff Jordan is Michael’s oldest son who initially walked on for Illinois before earning a scholarship. Illinois spokesman Derrick Burson said Thursday that Jordan recently met with assistant coaches about a possible return. Jordan hasn't yet met with head coach Bruce Weber.

Florida International University is threatening to pull out of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament if they are forced to still open against North Carolina.
FIU officials were shocked and stunned when they found out that they would be opening the season against North Carolina, which goes against the original agreement that FIU had with tournament organizers. According to FIU, the original agreement said that the Golden Panthers would open against Ohio State.

Like their 1985 team, the 2007 Memphis Tigers will have to vacate their record.
The NCAA has accused the 07-08 Tigers team of fabricating SAT scores and providing over $2,000 in free travel grants. Both violations involve Derrick Rose, who at the time was a freshmen point guard for the Tigers.

Former Arizona State shooting guard James Harden comes into the draft as one of the most intriguing players. After playing two years at ASU, Harden decided to make the jump to the NBA and is a virtual lock for a top 10 pick, going as high as the top three. He has good size for his position at 6-foot-5, 222 pounds and showed great shooting ability and decision making during his time with the Sun Devils.

While one of Michael Jordan’s sons is looking to begin his college basketball career, another one is hanging up his sneakers.
Michael Jordan’s son, Jeff Jordan, will not be playing basketball next season at Illinois to instead focus on his studies and preparing for “life after basketball”.
In his college career, Jordan appeared in 59 career games, totaling 58 points, 42 assists and 24 rebounds. As a sophomore, Jordan averaged 8.4 minutes a game. Initially, Jordan walked on at Illinois, but was able to earn a scholarship before the spring 2009 semester.
