If you were one of the numerous people that were skeptical about the Nashville Police report that former quarterback Steve McNair was shot by his girlfriend Sahel Kazemi, then she shot herself, well welcome to a group of growing individuals that also includes chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian of CBS.
That story looked more like a Hollywood horror movie than anything else, plus it did not make sense why Kazemi would do that; end his life and hers as well.
There were multiple holes in the story and it looked like Nashville Police did not do a thorough investigation into the murder of a man who was once the NFL’s MVP and also led the Tennessee Titans to the brink of a Super Bowl win.
Police released a 14-page case summary of their investigation, which revealed some fresh details to the story. It includes text messages between the late McNair and his late girlfriend Kazemi just hours before she allegedly shot the former NFL superstar.
While that was part of the information the police release, Keteyian from CBS has uncovered some fresh and exclusive details that the police did not release to the public.
Though Nashville Police insisted that Kazemi shot McNair four times with a hand gun in the early hours of July 4, before she shot herself, CBS’s investigation is showing that a third party was involved and the police are either not revealing that he was involved or they are just holding onto the information – hopefully it is the latter.
Nashville Police reported that Kazemi purchased the hand gun from Adrian Gilliam Jr. for $100, in a parking lot just two days before the deaths. Unfortunately, there is no evidence to corroborate Gilliam’s statement regarding the gun sale and the gun powder residue on Kazemi’s hands is inconclusive. Plus Gilliam told CBS he sold Kazemi the gun on July 3rd and not July 2nd, as reported by the police.
Although he claimed he barely knew Kazemi, Gilliam who had already spent nine years in prison for second degree murder and attempted robbery, had numerous calls and text messages from his pay-as-you-go cell phone to Kazemi’s number.
Unfortunately, on July 17, the US attorney and chief of Police in Nashville also stated as facts that Gilliam barely knew Kazemi. Something Kazemi’s cell phone records would later refute.
According to Keteyian and CBS, when the network obtained Kazemi’s cell phone records, they found something totally different from what the police had corroborated in the Gilliam-Kazemi casual relationship.
Though Gilliam is facing federal charges because he is a convicted felon and is not authorized to own a gun, his troubles are more than that. When CBS ran the pay-as-you-go cell phone number, provided to them by Gilliam’s father, by Kazemi’s records obtained by the network, the network says they found daily communication between the late Kazemi and Gilliam Jr. with over 200 calls and text messages leading up to the death of both Kazemi and McNair.
Even the day before the shooting, Gilliam and Kazemi, according to CBS, had 49 calls and text messages between them. Gilliam also called Kazemi at 12:02 am on July 4 and spoke with her for 3 minutes, according to CBS.
The communication between both parties raises the question why Nashville Police believes a convicted felon on the gun purchase and his alleged casual relationship with the late Kazemi.
With this revealing information from CBS, Nashville Police must readdress this case and investigate further the suspicions raised by everyone who was skeptical of their conclusion and findings to begin with. It is a valid question raised here by the network and the police cannot ignore this new information.
