Derrick Mason's agent, C. Lamont Smith, releases statement in response to reports by the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore SunSubmitted by admin on July 14, 2009 - 11:16am |
Sports agent C. Lamont Smith issued this statement in response to the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Sun’s reports concerning Derrick Mason.
"Derrick Mason did not workout at the Ravens’ facility on Monday as reported on the Ravens website. He was at the team facility to chat with the team’s PR personnel and left shortly thereafter."
With reference to reports by the Baltimore Sun that JOCKlife.com shares an office with Mason’s agent, Lamont Smith, Smith responded, “What is the relevance of that anyway? The story is Derrick Mason’s retirement, it smells like sour grapes to me,” Smith said.
For the record, JOCKlife.com does not share an office with Smith’s agency. JOCKlife.com’s address is 36 Steele Street, Suite 220 Denver, CO 80206.

Go Jets!
Just wanted to say that this is a great sports site. I am a huge Jets fan and 2010 will be our year. Rex Ryan rocks and sports blogs listed at sports index Dozensports.com are saying the Jets time has come. Bring it on!
Real smart
Ok, so apparently C Lamont Smith, YOU own this site.

Welcome to the internet!!
Dude, to pretend that you
Dude, to pretend that you have nothing to do with the jocklife.com website is a joke. Jocklife.com is registered to Mason's agent, C. Lamont Smith. At least be smart enough to do a private domain registration. As for D Mase, show some class.
Derrick Mason
I am a big fan of Derrick Mason's but I can tell you the Ravens will get along without him. Let him retire. He announced the retirement without any consideration of the Ravens organization who pays him. All the Ravens need to do is be quiet and replace him with a high caliper WR like Bouldin. When they do Mason will be forgotten. If he only handled it like an adult instead of a child he would have kept the respectability he had with the fans which he has now lost. Maybe the agent will pay him ???? NOT !!
HE"LL BE BACK
I THINK MASON WILL RETURN THE START OF THE SEASON,BECAUSE IF IT,S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY THEN WHAT IS IT.HERE,S A MAN THAT PLAYED 12 YEARS AND THE NFL,PLAYED WITH ONE ARM LAST SEASON AND ONE WIN AWAY FROM THE SUPERBOWL,YOU THINK HE DON,T TASTE THAT RING THIS YEAR.JUST WAIT AND SEE WERE NUMBER 85 WILL BE ON SUNDAYS.
mason and his agent
i really don't care where the office is, you own the domain name! this is a crap move, i think it's a ploy to get more money. no matter what happens i've lost all respect for mason. nice timming, wait till after the draft and free agency and announce you want to retire less then two weeks before camp. if it's not a ploy for more money then file the retirement papers with the league. i hope the ravens call your bluff. they have a younger version of mason in clayton. mason is just a possession reciever anyway, this will free up cap space to go out and get another reciever if they feel they need to. my guess, 85 will be running out of the tunnel opening day, how's he going to feel when he hears the boo's?? we all know how sensitive mason is... jerk off's!
News is news
It appears to me that regardless of the fact that his agent owns the site is a moot point. They could have just as easily told this news to any news outlet in the country and along with a Mason interview, and Yahoo! would have ran with it. If it is a ploy, it definitely is good timing as Baltimore was not prepared for this but the Ravens won't budge on a contract extension.
I think it might be good thinking by an agent to cut out the middle man and let the client say what he wants to say without it being distorted. Just a thought....
Baltimore fans are dumb, do
Baltimore fans are dumb, do you think talking about him is making him want to not retire and come back to play for ignorant fans? How stupid. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Mason doesn't owe you anything and he can do whatever he wants, however he wants. He deserves his more money anyway. How crappy of a move is it for the Ravens not to pay Mason the money he deserves. Ravens fans are dumb, you guys should be happy you finally got a QB to help that pathetic offense. Idiots. That sensitive man has been the only threat at receiver for the Ravens for years. Flacco should be the one begging Mason to not retire and begging the Ravens to pay him his money. Flacco and the fans will suffer not Mason. He said himself he has made enough money. Stupid fans.
