It Feels Good to Be 9-0

It feels good to be 9-0. It was a tough game against St. Louis, but we have to limit our turnovers. We have been lucky at times this year but have to protect the ball better.

Right now we are continuing to take it game by game and stay focuesd and take it one game at a time. If we get a big head and start thinking about going undefeated we will get out of our game. We have to work on staying focused and we will be ok the rest of the season.

A Little Sick But Still Running Hard

It felt great to finally get back in there! It was great to get back into the offense and be able to contribute. It was great being in the huddle and back into the game. I didn't have any nerves this week running the ball because I had been helping on special teams last week. This week I was more focused on not throwing up on the football field! I was basically trying to get off the field as quick as possible. My knee has gotten a lot better and feels good.

GENERAL
I told you all in my last post that I had a good game before in Kansas City and that I hoped to keep that rolling and low and behold I did. We didn't have a gameplan necessarily for me but when Stecks went down, it kind of made me the primary back with Deuce getting in the mix as well. We did have a gameplan to run the ball a bit more and put the league on attention that the Saints can run and throw the ball. Other guys stepped up in this game as well and performed great like Billy Miller. Hopefully I should the coaches that if they give me the ball, I can make things happen.

Little sore but hanging in there. I'm healthy and everything is good. We just aren't getting the end results that we are looking for. Last game we didn't play our game and we just got out played. Atlanta was out there ready to play and we really weren't. I don't want to say we had a hangover from London, we just weren't ready to play and it showed. Matt Ryan is doing very well over in Atlanta as a rookie quarterback, he still has a lot to learn just like everyone else but he is picking up the pressures with no problem which is unusual for a rookie quarterback in this league.

Up and Down Game

Last week we were involved in a very up and down game against Denver. We had a shot at winning the game but we were unable to pull out the victory. Missing a last minute field goal was not the reason we lost that game, there were many other plays that we could have made that would have made a difference especially some that I was involved in. I have to make into the endzone when we are one yard out and I have to pick up that first down late in the game to make it easier on our field goal kicker.

Tough Loss Against the Skins

Well the game against Washington was a little rough. We didn't play to our potential, we had a lot of mistakes with the turnovers and everything, but the Redskins had a good defense and they were flying around and making plays. It just comes down to us not executing well enough to win the game plain and simple. The coaches started using me more in the goal line and short yardage packages and I feel that will continue to be the case because I am more of a downhill runner that breaks a lot of tackles.

As I stated in my last post, we needed to jump on Oakland early and hit 'em in the mouth and that is exactly what we did. We didn't want to keep them in the game at all and we accomplished that by not turning the ball over. In the last two seasons we are now 8-0 when we don't turn the ball over. I didn't get a chance to return a kickoff this week. That was due to the fact that our defense played so well holding the Raiders to 3 points and that the Raiders kicker blasts the ball out of the endzone.

Pierre Thomas - Beat Ourselves

The loss to Minnesota on Monday Night football definitely goes down as the exact definition of beating ourselves. We left a lot of plays out on the field and turnovers killed us. Coming into this game we were in the positive in turnover ratio but you would not have guessed that after watching this game. There were a couple of calls that didn't go our way and one that should have been called and would have prevented one of those turnovers but we can't control how the game is called. All we can do is go out and execute and we definitely didn't do that for all sixty minutes of the game.

Really big win for our team this weekend against San Francisco. Definitely something our team needed. This is just another great step forward fulfilling our team goals. One of those goals was to have a better record than last year and we are definitley on pace to surpass last year's win total. On offense we stayed after their defense and just kept hitting them in the mouth the whole game.

Got the Start

Going into the first game I wasn't totally aware that I was going to get the start but it was really exciting to get in there on the first play lining up next to Reggie. Towards the end of warmups I found out that Steck wasn't going to be available and then that Duece still wasn't up to his normal self so Coach looked at me and told me I was starting. It was a bit shocking to me to get the first carry of the game but it feels great knowing that the coaches and my teammates have the confidence in me to know that I can get it done.
